The first night in the semester when we actually got to set up the telescopes in Astronomy 120 lab. We looked at the moon, and I couldn’t get a better picture with my phone, but it was breathtakingly beautiful.
Presentation: The Polar Eye [link] | [file] I was part of the first ASTRO (Aerospace Summer Training and Research Opportunity) team at SpaceWorks Enterprises, Inc. an aerospace engineering design firm. We were instructed to design a satellite with given parameters and a hypothetical budget of ten million dollars. I was in charge of orbital mechanics, attitude determination and control systems, and cost. This is the presentation my team gave.
Research Poster: Social Behavior in Groups of Mating Male and Female Bean Beetles [link] | [file] This is the poster for the research mentioned in regards to the bean beetle research, which I collaborated on with others involved in the research. This poster won first place for research posters at Clayton State University’s Academic Conference.
Common App Essay: Bean Beetles [file] In my junior year of high school, I did some research at Clayton State University with bean beetles. This college essay is a little bit about my experience. The prompt is as follows: Describe a place or environment where you are perfectly content. What do you do or experience there, and why is it meaningful to you?
Senior Speech: The Story of Us [file] During high school, I attended the Atlanta Girls’ School. Atlanta Girls’ School has a tradition of senior speeches in which every senior student gives a speech to the entire school (as well as any guests, including family and friends) during the weekly school-wide assembly. The speech can be about anything the student desires, ranging from highly personal topics to educational topics. My speech leans more toward the latter. It is a story about how you and I and, in fact, the entire universe came to be. Watch it here.
